Dr. Talal Saeed Abdullah Al-Janabi

Dr. Talal Saeed Abdullah Al-Janabi is a university professor and expert in organizational behavior and human resource management, businessman, writer and poet from the United Arab Emirates. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Honors) – University of Astray / George Washington in the United States, and a Ph.D in Human Resources Management from New University. He completed his MBA in 1995 and M.A in Business Administration from Cassel Noor Thambria, UK in 2001 with honors.

Dr. Talal has held several senior government jobs in the United Arab Emirates and has acquired actual and honorary memberships (past and present) in institutions and companies belonging to the construction, education and health sectors, in addition to a number of honorary memberships in social, sports and humanitarian institutions. He also taught at Manchester Metropolitan University and Newcastle University in the United Kingdom.

He is a lecturer and certified international expert in management and leadership at the United Nations in New York and was chosen by the United Nations organizations as one of the most important young experts globally in management theory in 1995. He has been honored by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for this great achievement. On the literary level, Dr. Talal started writing poetry in the late eighties and presented hundreds of qualitative poetry and participated in poetry arbitration committees, local and international competitions. He edited poetic pages in a number of magazines and periodicalsand his poems were published in the popular newspapers and magazines in the Gulf region.

Dr. Talal’s poems are considered to effectively represent the UAE at international forums. They have featured in national, social, charitable, educational, and humanitarian occasions and events, some of which are also set to tune for national songs. He participated in many cultural and literary events, festivals and demonstrations, including but not limited to: Al-Murbid Festival in Basra, Janadriyah Festival in Saudi Arabia, the Arab Poetry Festival in Sharjah, the Arab Poetry Festival in Fez, the Gulf Poetry Forum in Salalah, the International Poetic Heart Festival, the evenings of the Culture and Science Symposium in Dubai, Poetry Nights at the National Theater in Abu Dhabi, forums and evenings of the Emirates Writers and Writers Union in its branches, the Gulf Poetry Forum in the Emirates, the Arab Writers Union and Writers Forum and the International Poetic Creativity Festival. 

Dr. Talal’s work has been chosen for the Encyclopedia of Emirates Senior Poets issued by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development, which includes prominent poets throughout the history of the Emirates. Dr. Talal is a winner of the President of the Emirates Award (Khalifa Al Fakhr) in 2015 for overall intellectual and humanitarian giving, and the Abu Dhabi Appreciation Award in 2015 from His Highness the Deputy Prime Minister for cultural and social achievement. He is the recipient of the Shield of Poetic Excellence from the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Sheikh Zayed Award for Giving. He has received the Emirates Award for Humanitarian and Intellectual Giving 2019, which is considered to be one of the most prestigious awards granted by Arab leaders and culture ministers. Other than these Dr, Talal has received several appreciation awards from governmental and popular cultural institutions and universities at more than one level, locally and internationally.

He published eight poetry collections:

His poems were chosen for study and memorization within the educational curriculum of the United Arab Emirates and included in textbooks. His poems are currently taught to school students as part of the study of Arabic literature and some national and social anthems have been based on his poems. 

Dr. Talal’s poems have often been used for thesis as part of MA and Ph. D research. His experience and the outcome of various critical studies have been written about by critics of the Levant and the Maghreb. He won the Rashid Award for Scientific Excellence on two occasions. His works have been translated into English, French, Urdu, Hindi, Italian, Kurdish, Berber, Persian, Greek, Russian and Spanish. Dr. Talal’s poems amongst the first to reach space, setting a precedent for future Emirati talent and an inspirational benchmark for literature in the UAE.
