The Poetic Heart 2019 Edition

The 8th edition of the Poetic Heart – Connecting Humanity 2019, was held at Emirates Institute of Banking & Financial Studies (EIBFS), Dubai. The event was organized by SGI Gulf, in association with Dubai Knowledge Village and Dubai International Academic City. Emirates NBD and PepsiCo were the sponsors of the event. While the theme for the year was Determination, the audience also witnessed a plethora of poems dedicated to subjects such as  Hope, Peace, Mother, Women etc. Translations of the poems were screened on 2 large drop-down screens for the benefit of the audience.

The event was graced by the presence of Chief Guest H.E. Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Dy. Chairman of Dubai Police and Gen. Security and the Counsel General of Algeria. The Poetic Heart, 2019 was also supported by the Abu Dhabi Education Council, which encourages students across the Emirates to attend this educational symposium.
A total of 1025 attendees witnessed the event on the 3rd February, 2019

Poets Of The Poetic Heart 2019

A total of 13 senior poets shared their poetry in 8 languages Arabic, English, Spanish, Italian, Malayalam, Hindi, Urdu, Japanese and Russian. Compositions of esteemed poets such as Dr. Daisaku Ikeda, Shaikha Khulood Al Mualla, Paolo Ruffilli, Sajedah Al Mousawi, Khuzoor Wilson, Dr. Talal Al Junaibi, Nayef Al Herais, Sheen Kaaf Nizam, Hassan Aly Hassan, Wael Al Sayegh and Geeta Chabra were presented at the event.Please find their profiles and compositions here.

Musicians of The Poetic Heart 2019 Edition

In keeping with the spirit of the day, members of SGI- Gulf chorus band, Naseem sang a beautiful rendition in Arabic of ‘Song in Love of UAE’, written by Dr, Shihab Ghanem. The music for this song was composed by notable musician Dev Chakraborty. Naseem also collaborated with Janine Bensouda, a singer from Morocco. Omar Abdulla was invited on stage for his performance on the Oud which filled the hall, connecting the hearts and souls of many. Manfred Malzahn, was invited to play a few instrumental songs on his guitar. Manfred has been inspired towards poetry by German poets from Heinrich Heine to Erich Kästne. Cassie Chang played the piano, accompanied by a Bongo team represented by a Dutch, Filipino and Indian musician. There was also a charismatic musical performance by Winchester Band from The Winchester School. Musicians of the Event.

Schools Of The Poetic Heart 2019

The 8th edition of The Poetic Heart had participation from 41 schools. A total of over 300 poem entries from schools were received in 2019. 39 poems were recited by students in English and Arabic. Click here to read their profiles and compositions.
