The Poetic Heart 2012 Edition

The first edition of The Poetic Heart: Connecting Humanity, a poetry symposium that is part of SGI-Gulf’s cherished vision to earnestly reach out to the local Arab community was held in Dubai on February 16th 2012 at the Dubai Knowledge Village Auditorium. The SGI Peace and Culture Award was conferred upon Dr. Ayoub Kazim, Executive Director for Dubai Knowledge Village and Dubai international Academic City and Dr. Shihab Ghanem, a prolific local poet who is a also a recipient of various other awards.

About The Poetic Heart 2012 Poets

The event saw participation from 8 eminent poets, with poems recited in Arabic, English, Hindi, French
and Japanese. Some of the notable poets were Dr. Daisaku Ikeda (poems read out by Dr. Akash Ouchi),
Dr. Shihab Ghanem, Dr. Hassan Elmrani, Ali Khalil Al Sayegh, Shaikha Al Mutairi, Geeta Chabbra and Dr.

Musicians of The Poetic Heart 2012

Jason Carter was the solo musician at the first edition of The Poetic Heart. He played three distinct pieces of music. The first one was centered on children and titled ‘Good Morning My Angel’. The second piece was a vigorous Flamenco composition titled ‘From Rhonda’, which had its references to Arabic music as well. The third one was a soft and slow piece inspired from the song ‘The Spanish Miner’.Musician at the Event.
