The Poetic Heart 2020 Edition

2020 saw The Poetic Heart step into it’s 9th edition in which the spirit of connecting humanity, peace and harmony through poetry and music was stronger than ever. The event was held at the Emirates Institute of Banking & Financial Studies (EIBFS) Dubai. A total of 968 people attended the event. H.E. Ridwan Hassan, Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia was the Chief Guest along with Guest of Honour Kesri Kapur, Group CEO of Kuwait Food Company.

The 9th edition of Poetic Heart – Connecting Humanity, 2020 was sponsored by Emirates NBD, in association with Dubai Knowledge Village and Dubai International Academic City. The event was supported by Abu Dhabi Educational Council. The Poetic Heart partnered with Emirates NBD’s CSR initiative, committed towards advocating people with special needs.

Poets of The Poetic Heart 2020

12 accomplished poets from Oman, Italy, India and the United Arab Emirates graced the event with their profound and creative poetry and amiable personalities. Poems were recited in 8 languages, namely English, Arabic, Malayalam, Danish, Bengali, Spanish, Japanese and Italian. Translation of the poems were displayed on two drop-down screens on either side of the stage, for the benefit of the audience. Mementoes, trophies and certificates were presented to all the poets. Musicians of The Poetic Heart 2020

Omar Abdulla presented a soulful rendition on the Oud, which received a huge round of applause from the audience. This was followed by a song titled ‘Wandering’ sung by Argentinian artist, Leticia Monge. A fascinating performances by Sucheta Satish and Dev Chakraborty, which was an Indo-Arabian fusion song written by Dr. Shihab Ghanem was mesmerizing. The talented Sucheta Satish is a recipient of the Global Child Prodigy Award in Dubai and can sing in 120 languages.
The band from Winchester School performed a medley with instruments such as violin, flute, drums, electric guitar and saxophone. The Chorus band Naseem, sang the Japanese/English song ‘Sekeino Tomoto’ which translates to ‘Together with our friend in the world’ and ensured that the audience were kept spell bound. Musicians of the Event.

Schools Representing The Poetic Heart 2020

A total of 40 schools participated in the2020 edition of The Poetic Heart. 35 poems were penned and recited by students in English and Arabic and 2 poems were recited by students with determination. Collectively, they presented their original poetry on themes of peace, tolerance, determination and harmony.
Tender Hearts Arena, SNF Development Centre, Manzil Centre and the Al Noor Centre for persons of disabilities participated in the event.Click here to read their profiles and compositions.
