Colors of Resilience

When you feel like all is lost, and the shades of life turned grey
Remember all the colors in your life, that brought you all the way
Treasure the hues of happiness, and nurture the shades of blues
Use these colors to paint your journey, and let the pigments diffuse

Reds are for the times you were passionate about your cause
Those feelings gave you a glimpse, of how worthy it really was
Remember, one ray is enough to light up the woebegone skies
And one step is all it takes to mark the beginning of rewarding tries

Greens are for the times you regretted taking the redundant risk
Those feelings let you sense how to handle the unexpected twists
Our errors leads us to wiser decisions, and a greater upswing
Trees shed their leaves in winter, and grow greener ones in spring.

Blues are for the times you were on the brink of giving up in dismay
Those feelings let you know, that not everything may go your way
Your shortcomings are your greatest obstacles, there are no reruns
You’ll have to fight through some bad days to earn the best ones

Yellows are for the times your elation soared above the assured
Those feelings gave you hope for everything you’ve endured
Happiness isnt a destination to reach for, it’s a direction to go with
The struggles of the pasts have led us here, our success is no more a myth

These stories cannot be seen, nor heard, nor told, but felt
The colors of resilience is where these memories and narratives dwelt
Different hues to give fortitude, the willpower to continue
Every goal is achievable, every discovery is a chance at something new

Use these shades to give you confidence, these colors of resilience
When you feel like life is pushing too hard, recollect the experience
Retell your tales of marvels, and speak not through the mouth but heart
You were strong in the beginning, resilient from the start

About the Poet

Christina Mathews Kalathil is a Grade 9 student of GEMS Our Own English High School, Dubai.
She is a passionate composer of poetry and short stories. She firmly believes that writing isn’t words scribbled on paper, but a living piece of a soul ignited with the fire of passion and imagination.
She loved spending her childhood reading comics and watching the serene world through her window. Growing up, she has expanded her library of genres and has found solace in the pages of her books.
Other than writing, She enjoys digital designing and photography, another form of expressing life’s beauties with a creative approach.
When she isn’t jotting down poetic verses or plotting supernatural storylines, you can find her beneath a blanket with an unfinished book, reading past the late hours.
