Invincible Spirit : Connecting Humanity

The world shut down so fast
Over so little
Left us reminiscing the past;
Shattered, so brittle.

Looking out the windows,
Mourning over sudden loss.
Some left as widows
Lives left reeling at a pause.

Wouldn’t it be ungrateful,
To the million that bid farewell,
If I were to be spiteful
And call staying home “hell”?

A silver lining is too negligible
Compared to the vast rainy cloud
So we breathe words barely eligible;
Whispers of reassurance ring out loud.

Gloved hands find their way to each other;
A world tethered through laptop screens.
“As long as we have one another”
We echo to ourselves, praying not even silence intervenes.

White coats and stethoscopes;
A hero’s attire.
Scrambling around in hopes
That the graph doesn’t climb higher.

When it all went downhill,
Remember that we still stood strong.
We learnt skill after skill
Wrote words full of love and sang songs.

We made new dishes,
Watched movies, made art
While still holding onto our wishes
That this will all be over and then again we start.
