Together We Grow

Evening by the shore, a calm breeze says hello.

Well intended it was, it left me feeling mellow.

Nothing but the grains on my toes to notice.

I couldn’t help my mind slip under the motive.

Of finding a better place than this,

Somewhere I can go and feel nothing is amiss.

My mind paints an image, one stroke at a time.

Inviting me to indulge in this fantasy, to cross the line.

I see it come together, hues of color punctuating the monotony,

Swiftly erasing any means of lingering agony.

Illuminated by stars was the night sky that blanketed us.

Euphonious were the sounds of the melody that played.

It was a familiar yet distant tune,

One that took courage and effort to summon.

Hearts that have not moved for decades were swayed.

A heavy gate opened, and a welcome numbing.

Hands come together; our sense of comradery increases tenfold.

we once thought this a frailty, ugly and unbecoming.

But now we are together and united,

An unstoppable force to be reckoned.

About The Poet

Ruth enjoys writing as a hobby. Writing gives her a chance to unwind and destress during her free time. Not only does it allow me to create her own world, it enables her to share meaningful messages with others.
