The Dove Has Arrived
Welcome the dove with its plumage so white,
Bearing an olive branch in the course of its flight.
Rise people of Earth, I bear you news
The dove has arrived, crossing the blues.
The metaphor of peace has arrived on earth
Gathering the people around a hearth
As it tells the tales of peace and love
For the dove has arrived, soaring above.
In the dark age of conflict, agony and odium
We entail harmony for equilibrium
Life need not be filled with contempt anymore
For the dove has arrived, to erase abhor.
Peace is a bridge that connects diversity
With mankind to show authenticity
Peace is not just silence but camaraderie
The dove has arrived, Oh we are free.
No longer will there be havoc or cruelty
No longer will there be strife or enmity
The serenity will take over slowly but steadily
For the dove has arrived, oh so gracefully.
To raise the flag of peace, let us take an oath
To the aim of world peace let us devote
And With open arms, let us together embrace
The dove that has arrived, to our place.
About The Poet
Smruti Pradhan represents Abu Dhabi Indian School (Al Wathba), Abu Dhabi. When she first started writing poetry five years ago, she was fascinated by the wordplay, the unique way of expression, how a single verse has the power to express many meanings and the way, the look, sound and language work hand in hand to create a magical effect. Ever since, she finds it to be a method to voice her opinions and emotions.
She strongly believes that the pen is mightier than the sword, and hopes to reach people’s hearts through her eloquent stanzas.
