I heard hope whisper

I heard hope whisper,

“Breathe…you’ll be fine,

At the end of the day, you’ll leave despair behind.

Despite the darkness, there’s still light,

Don’t dwell in the endless shades of night.”

I heard hope whisper,

“Give it one more try,

The result will show you it was worth the climb.

I’m a peaceful weapon; one of a kind,

You’re a warrior but not sworn to fight.”

I heard hope whisper,

“Clouds could blanket the sky,

And rain start to pour from a height,

Remember to speak with your mind; dream with your soul,

Keep your grails anchored, so you have control.”

I heard hope whisper,

“Humanity was lost some time back,

But I can help regain the human track.

Don’t drown your voice out into the flood,

Because morality can still be coursing through our blood.”

About The Poet

Samrin Zehra’s poems explore realms that are buried beneath human emotions; confronting, more often than not uncomfortable narratives through verse. Her anthology of poems include takes on ‘Friendship’ and ‘Anger’ amongst others, presenting it as it is by stripping away its remoteness.
