This Is Not Who You Are

This is not who you are

You are not the man who faces defeat

You do not stand for negotiation

You want your justice and so by god

You are willing to embrace the heat

This is not who you are

You are not the person, who falls short on your accomplishments no,

You stand tall on everything you’ve broken bones, kicked, screamed and whimpered

Crawling your way to the things you have earned

You do not turn the other cheek

You do not spare forgiveness

It is in your legislation to never show weakness

Who you are is the conflict embedded in every man’s identity

The exact same imperialism that brought nations to its uncertainty

You are the face of a man I will never forget

A face of a man with many bestowed upon regrets

Your corporate towers will mask your façade of greed

It’s shiny windows deflecting those in need

You are the intangible moment we wish to own

A bed of roses, the American dream

With oceans of nightmares bursting at the seams

This is not who you are
