The Heart Of Environment

Most of you, if not all, would say that they love a gift

If it is so, then you’re letting a big gift drift

Because this land is our biggest legacy

And instead of protecting it we committed a heresy

We should have cared for our only home

But all we did to it was increase pollution as we roam

Millions of paper, waste and chemicals are thrown everyday

It’s like we are stepping on the heart of the environment and not giving it way

Then we wonder why nature is so indifferent to human kind

But in reality, if it trusted us it would be blind

Imagine environment as a person, how scarred it would be

How many more bones does it have to break for us to respond to its plea

We say that we are fighting to survive

But indeed it is the land that is trying to thrive

Let’s drop these phones and hold our love for our environment

Let’s stand up for our environment before it leaves us and heads for retirement

Without it we would have never been able to exist and be significant

It deserves the best protection and care that is most magnificent

About The Poet

Introducing the smart and creative poet, Huda Hourieh, a student of American International School.

She believes many people don’t understand the actual concept of poem writing, some might find poetry difficult and exhausting to write and some might find it as a piece of cake.

As for as a writer, she is a kind-hearted beautiful soul driven by the rhythm of her own emotions to the path of poems. She learned plenty of moral educating information that helped her get through the hard times of writing her emotions on either pieces of paper or computer drafts.

It wasn’t as easy as it seemed but with a clear mind, she succeeded. Her poems varied from detailed memories to environmental love, yet they all involved creativity.
