Soren Hansen

Soren Hansen is a danish band leader, bass player and cellist born in 1962 at Copenhagen, Denmark. In 1979, he founded the Carl Nielsen Conservatory of Music, Denmark. He has provided private tuitions with Jacqueline du Pre & W. Pleeth in his initial years as a cellist. He settled in Corfu in 1983 and was the Principal cellist of the Corfu Symphony Orchestra. He is the member of the Municipal String Quartet of Heraklion. He has developed his skills by playing several recitals as a cellist. He played in honour of M.Rostropovich at Creta Maris in 1994.

Mr. Hansen has assumed many prestigious positions as a music leader, producer, composer and director  throughout his career. In 1989 he became the conductor & artistic director of St.Dimitris Choir, Heraklion.  He also taught music at the Danish High School while in Denmark. He is currently the CEO at HansenMusic  (Artist Management & School of Music). He is also a cellist in the Heraklion Municipal String Quartet and  since 2007 he became the principal cellist in the Cretan Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Hansen is also the  Conductor and Artist Director of The Heraklion Chamber of Commerce Choir and Orchestra.

In terms of education, Soren Hansen has a Diploma in Music Performance, Royal College of Music London.

Soren has several season contracts with high-end hotels and Conventions/Congresses and in 2008 he performed in a concert with Italian Diva MILVA. He founded ‘Nuevo Tango Trio’. In 2013, he founded ‘Soren Lyng Hansen Trio’ and started “The Sound Witch Project” where the group has defined it’s program by suspending borders between genres of music. This has resulted in a performance of music, ranging from classical compositions, Nuevo Tango (Piazzolla) and jazz tunes to Secret Garden melodies and songs by Hatzidakis. The music arranged by SLH for the trio included Soren Lyng Hansen on the electric cello & double bass , Anastasia Papanastasiou playing the electric violin and Jesper Lyng Hansen who played the piano.
