My Grandfather’s Friend is The Sea

by. Mr. Talal Salim Al Sabiri

Since our existence and our finest neighbor is the Sea

Since our being  and our most glorious friend is the Sea

My father’s friend

My grandfather’s friend

my friend

my children’s friend

We were growing on his shores every day

We were dreaming of his depth in Serenity

We collect his hopes and we collect our hopes

And dream of peace in peace

Since our existence and the sea is the lap for our boats

The warmth of our ports

Our whispers

Our Words

our old poems and what remains from our songs

He used to bring  back with the travelers

and say goodbye

and hug them to our hearts

He draw us into them

He draw then with our souls

Since the sea existed he dreamt of calm

Was tempted by  the wind

 Danced with the Waves

Dreamt of purity

He got angry to the point of fatigue

He was gentle to the terms of life

our glorious friend is the Sea

Our father’s friend

our grandfather’s friend

my friend

my children’s friend

Despite all storms he returns to calm

despite all what we through was in him he returned to purity

Despite all our destruction of his banks he came with blessings

Our sails spread the whiteness on his blueness

The spread of the whiteness of our hearts on the water

Whiteness and our life together in the same boat

Pearls were the spirit of our wishes

The diving was the spirit of our wishes

our glorious friend is the Sea

Our father’s friend

our grandfather’s friend

my friend

my children’s friend
